Notebook is a powerful tool that Copilot offers to its users. It enables them to create rich prompts and receive high-quality content from Copilot without engaging in chat conversations. Get the best premium hosting for your website!Despite the lack of official recognition from Microsoft, Jordi Ribas, the company's CVP of Search and AI, confirmed via X that the Notebook feature has been fully integrated into Copilot. He described it as a fresh interface for creating, enhancing, and revising prompts without the need for chat dialogue.
The Notebook feature can be found on the chatbot's interface, adjacent to the text. Upon clicking it, users are greeted with a different layout from the standard chatbot. Two text boxes are present, with the left one inviting users to "Compose a detailed prompt to collaborate with Copilot," and the right one indicating, "Copilot will generate your content here."
One of the most significant and beneficial differences is the character limit in Notebook, which is 18,000 characters, compared to the 4,000 character limit in Copilot. This allows users to utilize Copilot's assistance for longer materials, such as extensive essays, papers, or articles that the user wishes to have proofread or even summarized.
The ease of editing prompts, as indicated by Ribas' tweet, appears to be the primary purpose of the Notebook. In Copilot, if a user wishes to modify a prompt, they must edit it, and new results will be generated, losing the context of the previous response.
However, the elimination of chat dialogue in Notebook makes it much simpler to adjust the prompt as it retains your previous prompt in the left box, even after the result has been generated. This means users can effortlessly modify the older prompt, adding or removing any text as needed. Furthermore, Notebook retains the previous version even after the prompt has been adjusted.
The Notebook feature could be advantageous when coding. In the past, using a chatbot for coding purposes was cumbersome as it necessitated a lot of copying and pasting to preserve the previous context while making the required edits. The extended character input in Notebook could be beneficial for summarizing lengthier texts.
